The Ultimate Drill Stopper Box Kit
During dental implant procedures, the depth of drilling is a fine and crucial measurement. Different bone and jaw types add a significant amount of variation into how deep the drill should penetrate. Surpassing a safe depth limit during drilling can lead to nerve injury and potentially permanent facial paralysis. Implant-related injuries of this nature can be avoided by adequate planning, pre-procedural assessment and the use of Edison Medical’s new drill stopper kit, the Black Stopper Box. The kit includes 15 drills in three color-coded diameters (Ø2.0, 2.8 and 3.2mm) and five lengths (6, 8, 10, 11.5 and 13mm). Each drill is laser-marked with its respective specifications. The drills come in an autoclavable organizer box with an additional row for your spare drills.
Unlike many other drill stopper kits which are composed of drill collars, sleeves or mounts, the Black Stopper Box is composed of actual drills with the stopper integrated to form a single unit with the drill. This avoids any complications associated with lost or missing parts, as well as reduces the frequency of errors made by surgical assistants. The sleek, black design of the drills is due to the use of DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon), a material that combines the two naturally-occurring forms of diamonds to yield a flexible, amorphous surface, while still being hard as a diamond and slicker than Teflon. The surface is smooth and highly reflective, allowing for optimal navigation, visibility and accuracy while drilling. These drills are corrosion-resistant and generate minimal heat during drilling as a result of DLC’s low-friction surface, which decreases risk of surrounding bone and tissue necrosis and leads to faster recovery.
